Towngas is the first energy utility company in Hong Kong to have issued a green bond, the first 10-year Green Bond is to fund environmentally-friendly waste –to-energy investments.
The new SENT landfill project is one of Hong Kong's largest environmental projects. At this project's design capacity, the environmental benefits include the reduction of naphtha consumption by 13,000 tonnes a year. In addition, it is projected to offset 56,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, which is equivalent to the amount of CO2 that would be absorbed by 2.4 million trees over the same period.

Towngas collaborated with City University of Hong Kong to create a Gas Service Riser Repair Robot which remotely repairs corroded pipes. This robot effectively shortens riser repair times, reduces customer inconvenience and minimises risk to our technicians.
To create a safe and healthy workplace, Towngas focus on improving health and safety through innovation. In 2017, we enhanced roadwork safety through innovation and modification, thus, the pneumatic soil remover, easy-controlled electric trolley, self-assembled mechanical arm and automatic LED warning system of vehicles were developed.
Towngas launched two innovative CSR programmes in 2017, namely Chef Anchor Cooking Programme and We Can Cook Cooking Workshop, for elderly people with mild cognitive impairment and younger retirees respectively.
Towngas Apprentice Programme celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017. We have trained up more than 1,200 skilled craftsmen to offer safe, high-quality products and services to our customers, ensuring a stable supply of technicians.
